The building form directly responds to the site and program. The accentuated horizontal mass defines the street edge and hovers above the ground floor, spatially defining the public first floor from the guestroom floors above. A "hypen" breaks the elongated form, bridging interior and exterior space.
A vibrant mix of retail, restaurant and hotel lobby space activate all four sides of the property. The open-air "hyphen" marks the entry and arrival, and creates a promenade for guests. The widened sidewalk draws activity between the interior and exterior, further extending public use of the building.
The fašade draws inspiration from industrial finishes of brick, metal, and glass. Subtle contrasts in texture and color define the guestrooms floors and shadows thrown by the metal panels create depth and movement throughout the day.
